It's that time of year again. When leaves start to change color and slowly start to fall. When days blur into short memories of holiday plans. When the air is filled with smells of delicious food. And all you feel is anticipation for all the beautiful festivities to come...
This month has been the beginning of my favorite time of year... the holidays. And it culminates with my favorite Holiday. Halloween is like the first kickoff of a football game- it sets all the excitement in motion.
I particularly love all the creativity that comes along with planning for this day. I almost always make my costume, I just love to have my own unique version of a typical character.
This year I am teaming up with Shabby Apple to share a simple way to create a costume by getting a little creative. When I saw this skirt I instantly thought fish scales... so mermaid was obviously going to be my calling. To make the costume more "mermaid-y" I made a DIY headband (because let's be honest... what's a mermaid without seashells). The headband was a fun project my sister and I created a couple days ago. We glued shells on a mesh fabric, added pearls, rhinestones, topped it off with a glitter top coat and set the headpiece on a stretchy headband. And Viola! Halloween Ready-To-Wear!
