Mermaid Halloween

Thursday, October 30, 2014

It's that time of year again. When leaves start to change color and slowly start to fall. When days blur into short memories of holiday plans. When the air is filled with smells of delicious food. And all you feel is anticipation for all the beautiful festivities to come...

This month has been the beginning of my favorite time of year... the holidays. And it culminates with my favorite Holiday. Halloween is like the first kickoff of a football game- it sets all the excitement in motion.

I particularly love all the creativity that comes along with planning for this day. I almost always make my costume, I just love to have my own unique version of a typical character.

This year I am teaming up with Shabby Apple to share a simple way to create a costume by getting a little creative. When I saw this skirt I instantly thought fish scales... so mermaid was obviously going to be my calling. To make the costume more "mermaid-y" I made a DIY headband (because let's be honest... what's a mermaid without seashells). The headband was a fun project my sister and I created a couple days ago. We glued shells on a mesh fabric, added pearls, rhinestones, topped it off with  a glitter top coat and set the headpiece on a stretchy headband. And Viola! Halloween Ready-To-Wear!

Are you dressing up this year?!

Happy Friday everyone! I am so excited it finally the feakin' weekend!!

I am so excited the holiday season is upon us! I love the feeling of the holidays...I love decorating, baking, and enjoying all the little things that come with the holiday season. This year I am determined to make the most of it, so I plan on taking advantage of all things holiday. So this weekend I will be peeping for Halloween: making pumpkin pie, costume shopping, and watching Halloween-y movies. TGIF!

Today I am sharing a look that has one of my latest obsessions- this tiny heart print Chambrays. Chambrays tops are a must in everyone's closet, they are my absolute favorite! Denim in general is so effortless to wear. It pretty much goes with everything! As of lately, I have really gravitated towed the Chambrays tops, tops with trim, different washes, or some with prints (like this one). Since it is still relatively warm in SoCal I like that Chambrays tops can be the perfect transitional piece for Fall weather. The past few days have cooled down some, so I was able to wear my leather Skinnies and this top. I can't wait, however, to wear this under sweaters and to finally be able to layer layer layer!

Happy Wednesday everyone!

Today I am sharing my everyday go-to look. When I am running from one place to another I like to be comfortable. So ripped jeans and a comfy top is the perfect combo for me.This outfit is really how I look most days, I wear lots of color and carry a large tote to carry all my junk to get me through the day.

I am particularly in love with this top because of the beautiful dusty pink color. This shade of pink is the perfect transition from summer brights to warm fall tones! The dusty color is almost like a neutral pink ( if that can even be possible, pink as a neutral?). I have worn this shirt so much since I have gotten it, I think its appropriate for everything! Call me crazy but to make it work appropriate I paired it with a black pencil skirt and black flats.... and bamm! From day to work in 2.5 seconds!
